Ikaika Arts

A man in a workshop wearing an apron works on a large decorative animal skull with antlers and black wire sculpture.

Metal bonsai is a new take on an ancient tradition. While the original bonsai masters tended to a living tree in an ongoing conversation between intention and nature over years, the metal bonsai artist attempts to bring a form directly from the imagination into the physical world. With no organic requirements, there is a degree of freedom to go around the rules, and create forms that are not possible with a living organism.
